Das Studentenwerk kann nicht nachvollziehen, dass die Gruppierung EndFossil: Occupy! im Kontext der Diskussion um das Energiekonzept der neuen Nordmensa zu einer Demonstration aufruft, in deren Fokus nicht das Studentenwerk selbst, sondern einer der Auftragnehmer des Studentenwerks – das beratende Ingenieurbüro – stehen soll.
In jüngster Zeit scheint es die Strategie der Gruppierung zu sein, Personen und Einrichtungen in die kontrovers geführte Diskussion hineinziehen zu wollen, die nicht Auftraggeber der neuen Mensa auf dem Nordcampus sind. Dies ist umso unverständlicher, als das Studentenwerk immer gesprächsbereit war und dies auch deutlich signalisiert hat.
Dazu Prof. Dr. Jörg Magull, Geschäftsführendes Vorstandsmitglied des Studentenwerks: „Wir ordnen dieses Verhalten als hilflosen und zugleich unlauteren Versuch ein, den Interessenskonflikt auszuweiten, weil sachliche Gegenargumente fehlen. Unsere technisch fundierte und öffentliche Antwort vom 30. Januar 2024 auf den offenen Brief von EndFossil: Occupy! stellte klar, dass wir uns der energetischen Problemstellungen im Kontext des CGiN bewusst sind und Verantwortung übernehmen – sowohl für den bestehenden Versorgungsauftrag gegenüber den Studierenden als auch für sparsame Energieoptionen.“
Daher verurteilt das Studentenwerk den Aufruf zur Demonstration und verweist auf die realen Anforderungen in dem neuen Gebäude: Täglich rund 4.000 Essen und 38.000 zu spülende Geschirrteile erfordern das geplante Energiekonzept. The Studentenwerk cannot comprehend that the group EndFossil: Occupy! in the context of the discussion about the energy concept of the new North Mensa, calls for a demonstration, of which the focus is not to be on Studentenwerk itself, but on one of the contractors of the Studentenwerk – the consulting engineering office.
Recently, the group's strategy seems to be to draw people and institutions into the controversial discussion who are not the clients of the new cafeteria on the North Campus. This is all the more incomprehensible because the Studentenwerk has always been willing to talk and has also clearly signalled this.
Prof. Dr. Jörg Magull, Managing Director of the Studentenwerk, commented: "We classify this behavior as a helpless and at the same time unfair attempt to expand the conflict of interest because there are no factual counterarguments. Our technically sound and public response of January 30, 2024 to EndFossil's open letter :Occupy! made it clear that we are aware of the energy problems in the context of the CGiN and take responsibility – both for the existing supply mandate towards the students and for economical energy options."
Therefore, the Studentenwerk condemns the call for a demonstration and refers to the real requirements in the new building: Around 4,000 meals a day and 38,000 pieces of dishes to be washed require the planned energy concept.
